What you should keep in mind when you are scheduled for church services and/or events:
  • Attend all safety team meetings and trainings and familiarize yourself with both buildings and exits.
  • Arrive about 30 minutes early. This gives you time to communicate with other team members for that service or event.
  • Wear your lanyard (or safety team shirt) to help people identify who they should turn to in the event of a medical or other emergency situation.
  • Maintain visible presence during church services and events.
  • Respond to medical emergencies until first responders arrive.
  • Be aware of doors and any questionable activity.
  • Remember your training: Stay calm. Talk in a normal voice. Avoid escalating any situation.
  • Protect/guide the congregation in the event of a building emergency (fire, tornado, electrical issue, intruder, or even loud argument.
