A letter from Jerry Butcher, Senior Pastor
Church Family,
Five years ago, the journey of the Crossroads Barberton campus began. Having church in a movie theater was exciting and created a bigger opportunity for people to come to KNOW Jesus, GROW in their faith, and GO do great things. Despite the excitement of a movie theater church, we knew we needed to find a permanent home for the Barberton congregation. In the last few years we have walked through just about every building in Barberton with any potential of becoming that home. For a variety of reasons, none of those places worked out. Now, we believe the reason they didn’t work out is because God had a bigger, better property than we had even envisioned - 1177 Norton Ave.
God has opened the door for Crossroads Ministries to establish a permanent home for the Barberton Campus in Norton. As you read through this booklet, you’ll quickly see that the ministry potential of this facility and property is tremendous. Our staff and deacon boards from all three campuses have toured the property and unanimously agree that it is by far the best facility we have seen — and at a price point we truly consider miraculous.
We are prayerful and hopeful that the legacy that began in Barberton will continue and expand at this amazing facility on Norton Ave.
Regardless of which campus you attend, we encourage everyone to read through this booklet, tour the property during one of the open houses, attend the Informational Meeting on May 17, and vote on May 31 on whether you also believe this is the next right step for Crossroads Ministries. We want to move forward boldly, prayerfully, and in unity. This is an opportunity to make a decision that could impact the faith of multiple generations — both now and in the future.
Why do this? 1) Passion – Our passion for spreading the Gospel is only growing. Getting a permanent home to do ministry will provide more openings for the Gospel to be proclaimed and people to come to know Jesus. 2) Faith – We wouldn’t be pursuing this if we didn’t believe God is in it. It might be a bold step into the unknown, but we want to take that step in faith knowing that if God is leading us to it, He will make the path forward clear. 3) Dreaming – We have BIG dreams for what God can do through His people in a permanent home in Norton. We trust God’s Word when it tells us that He is able to do even more than we ask or imagine all for His glory.
We don’t want to go to the grave with our biggest dreams still inside of us. We want to live lives that are worth telling stories about. This is an opportunity to be part of the story. It’s our prayer that years from now, people will look back and talk about the moment Crossroads stepped forward in faith and created a permanent home for ministry in Norton. We believe God is writing that story right now — and we want you to be part of it. Long vision begins with the first step - let's take it together!
